Nielsen to Measure Netflix Viewing

Even as Netflix and other streaming-video providers have expanded to reach 40% of American homes, they have largely remained black boxes. They have refused to share data on how many viewers watch TV shows on their services, and there has been little independent data. Next month, that will change, when Nielsen begins measuring viewership of TV on subscription online video services for the first time.

Don't plan on being able to wear your Google Glass or smartwatch when heading to the movies. On Wednesday, the Motion Picture Association of America and the National Association of Theatre Owners adopted a zero-tolerance policy against wearable technologies, such as Google Glass. Moviegoers must turn off and put away any and all such devices, or risk being asked to leave. If theater staff suspects that illegal recording is taking place, law enforcement authorities will be notified.The same anti-piracy policy already exists for phones and other recording devices.
