Japan Box Office: 'Apes' Opens Behind Samurai Film

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opened in second place at the Japanese box office this weekend in its final major market launch. The 20th Century Fox film has done well in various international markets. With $1.9 million, it dragged way behind the $3.8 million that Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends, the final part of a samurai sword-fighting trilogy directed by Keishi Otomo, took in its second weekend on top. LG Electronics announced two new giant OLED TVs with ultra-high definition screens Monday, sticking with its strategy of using the exceptionally expensive OLED display technology.
