Walmart Unwraps Black Friday Tech Deals

Walmart will try to lure in Black Friday tech buyers with a variety of in-store only sales, as revealed in its new flyer. Touting its deals for November 27 and 28, Walmart will start selling the original 16GB Wi-Fi iPad Mini for $199 and throw in a $30 gift card to sweeten the deal. That offer kicks off at 6 p.m. on November 27. A couple of hours later at 8 p.m., the retailer will sell the 16GB Wi-Fi iPad Air for $397, complete with a $100 gift card. Another November 27 deal, Walmart is offering an RCA Google Play Android tablet for $29.

Walmart's 'new Black Friday' Will Be a 5-day Event This Year

Walmart announced a bevy of Black Friday deals on Wednesday, including substantial savings on several HDTVs, Apple's iPad mini and Beats wireless headphones. The company calls these deals the new Black Friday, which run from Thanksgiving morning on Nov. 27 through Dec. 1. Walmart claims the event includes more deals then ever, but will have plans in place manage crowds.

48% of Consumers Have Never Made a Purchase With Their Phone

Although it may seem like consumers use their smartphones and tablets for everything these days, there's one thing many of them won't do on the go: make payments. In fact, 48% of consumers surveyed said they have not used their mobile phones to make a purchase, according to a new study from digital commerce solutions provider Avangate. But why do so many consumers avoid making mobile payments and purchases? 40% of the consumers surveyed said they don't want to store critical or sensitive information on their phones. And even the consumers who do make mobile purchases don't always feel safe doing so. 22% said they don't feel secure when making mobile payments but do it anyway.
