Television, DVD and Video Equipment Manufacturing in China Industry Research Report Now Available from IBISWorld
November 21, 2012 --
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 21, 2012
Revenue generated by the TV, DVD and Video Equipment Manufacturing industry in China is estimated at $67.5 billion in 2012. Over the five years through 2012, revenue has been growing at an annualized rate of 8.0%, says IBISWorld.
Exports are important for this industry, accounting for almost half of industry revenue in 2012. Volatile export growth in the past five years was mainly caused by the industry's changing export product structure and the global recession, which weakened demand from established foreign markets. In the TV market, exports of LCD TVs and plasma TVs increased, while exports of cathode ray tube (CRT) TVs declined due to high countervailing duties and waning global demand. As export demand slows down in developed markets like Europe, companies will focus on growing exports to emerging markets, says IBISWorld.
Brand concentration is high in the TV, DVD and Video Equipment Manufacturing industry, especially in the TV and digital video camera markets, says IBISWorld. The well-known brands in the TV market include Hisense, Samsung, Philips, Panasonic, Changhong, Konka, Sony, TCL, Skyworth and Xoceco; their combined sales represent over two-thirds of flat-screen TV revenue. These companies have competitive advantages in terms of costs, resources, technology and management.
The industrys overall market share concentration is low, however, due to the large number of small-scale manufacturers providing original equipment manufacturing (OEM) services for foreign enterprises. In 2012, the top four companies in the industry TCL, Skyworth, Hisense and Sichuan Changhong Electronics are set to contribute just over a quarter of industry revenue, says IBISWorld. However, with large firms expanding their businesses and initiating mergers and acquisitions, the industry's concentration level is expected to increase steadily in the five years through 2017.
