For Spatially Intelligent Industrial and Commercial Buildings
SAN BRUNO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Locix, next-generation innovator in spatial intelligence solutions, today announced the commercial launch of its WiFi-based, ultra-precise and cost-effective local positioning system (LPS). Locix LPS is a full-stack solution for location determination of WiFi enabled devices such as, asset trackers, mobile phones, IoT sensors, appliances, and equipment, with sub-meter accuracy in indoor and outdoor environments. It enables enterprises to accurately and reliably locate and analyze the use of human and material resources to significantly increase visibility and improve productivity and efficiency. Given the omnipresence of WiFi, Locix WiFi-based LPS enables a new capability for spatial awareness and a broad range of new spatially intelligent mobile applications.
Allied Market Research projects the global indoor positioning and indoor navigation market to reach USD 43.51 Billion by 2025. Existing and emerging wireless local positioning technologies in this market suffer from the inability to deal with reflections, absorption, and bandwidth limitations, significantly diminishing their accuracy. Locix LPS has been specifically designed to robustly deal with these limitations to deliver sub-meter accuracy in even the most challenging environments.
“In real world industrial and commercial buildings, Locix’s WiFi-based LPS has now been demonstrated to be substantially more accurate and cost effective than alternative local positioning systems,” said Norio Nakajima, senior executive vice president, Module Business Unit, Murata Manufacturing. “We are pleased to support the development and commercialization of the Locix WiFi-based LPS solution with our Murata WiFi module.”
Locix LPS is a full stack solution to locate and track WiFi devices. Key features of the solution include:
- LPS Cloud to analyze spatial data using proprietary localization and tracking algorithms to accurately locate and track WiFi devices.
- Locix WiFi based location anchor stations to facilitate turnkey installation and deployment.
- Locix’s battery powered WiFi based trackers (enabled by Locix WiFi 802.11.ac SoC, intertial sensors, and ultra-low power wireless network) to locate workers, industrial assets and mobile equipment.
- Support for WiFi-enabled devices such as, IoT sensors, appliances, and mobile phones.
“Locix LPS is the equivalent of GPS for indoor environments. It will create significant value for our customers in indoor environments, in the same way GPS has enabled in outdoor environments,” said Vik Pavate, CEO of Locix. “Locix LPS advances the ubiquitous WiFi ecosystem with ultra-precise and affordable spatial intelligence for novel commercial and consumer applications.”
Locix will showcase LPS with Murata at CEATEC 2019 at the Murata Manufacturing booth # HALL7 H021.
