User-Supported Distribution Brings "Adventuress Wanted" Directly to the Audience
NY Independent Film and Video Festival Winner Now Available for Free Online Download

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/12/12 -- Adventuress Wanted, an award-winning intimate documentary of two near-strangers embarking on the adventure-of-a-lifetime, is now available for free high-quality online download on Redbuggy.com. The film will be supported through user-based donations, of which 50 percent of the proceeds will go to The African Academy for Gifted Girls (TAAGG).
Adventuress Wanted is the story of Tom McAlevey, CEO of Radical.FM, and his female companion Yoshiko, traveling 30,000 miles from Sweden to South Africa in a beach buggy. Set against the majestic and dramatic landscape of Africa, the documentary juxtaposes breathtaking natural beauty and intense adventure, with the universal challenges of a developing human relationship. There is no additional camera crew, no follow vehicle and no support team of any kind.
"The Internet is changing the way creative works can find an audience and I am leaving it in the hands of the public and not the studios to discover this movie about life, love and a complete lack of reason," said Thomas McAlevey, director and star of Adventuress Wanted. "As an artist, my greatest fear is not starvation but obscurity -- that my work will not be seen. In over a year our distributors have not secured a deal for Adventuress Wanted, so I've decided to empower the audience to discover and share this award-winning movie and illustrate the power of independent artists everywhere."
Adventuress Wanted's free online distribution on Redbuggy.com relies solely on user-support. The business model is the same as McAlevey's other venture, Radical.FM, the world's most complete music streaming platform, which is also user-supported and ad-free. "Self-distributing Adventuress Wanted in this way requires faith in humanity," notes McAlevey. "But if it weren't for the goodwill of people all along our trip Yoshiko and I would never have survived the making of this film to begin with."
Half of the donations made will be pledged to The African Academy of Gifted Girls (TAAGG), a charity that McAlevey will create with proceeds from the film. Inspired by experiences in Zambia while filming Adventuress Wanted, McAlevey envisions TAAGG as a way to give exceptional African youth supplemental educational programming and room and board when necessary. TAAGG will strengthen students' core knowledge base, instill a sense of civic duty, and bolster confidence with the goal of making attractive international college applicants.
