according to IDC, tablet growth in the North American and European markets will be flat this year. The tablet market, which IDC counts as tablets and 2-in-1 devices, will grow by a slim 6.5 percent globally. Tablet sales won’t catch PC sales for a lenghtyperiod of time. Another point of context: Quarterly smartphone sales are substantially larger than yearly tablet sales, a gap that is increasing. Apple emailed invites to a Sept. 9 event, confirming a date many had already circled on their calendars. The event, which comes about three months after Apple’s popular developers conference, is expected to be the launchpad for the company’s annual iPhone upgrade. Apple is expected to show two new smartphones with larger screen sizes — there are no names on these phones yet, even though they are routinely referred to as the iPhone 6. Chief Executive Tim Cook has said Apple would break into a new product category this year – its first since the iPad was introduced in 2010.

Quora Launches IPad App, Hints At Growth

Quora, the Q&A website where users answer everything from requests for travel tips to philosophical queries like "Why does war exist," isn't the most widely-discussed service these days. But its CEO insists Quora is more popular than ever. The company rolled out its first iPad app Thursday nearly three years after the launch of its iPhone app. Cofounder and CEO Adam D'Angelo wrote in a blog post that his first tablet app would help fuel further growth.
