Content Insider #376 - Second Look By Miles Weston CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is like fine dining. It is best to be tasted, eaten, consumed slowly but unfortunately that's impossible because it is like a limited time giant buffet. If you don't fill your plate with the best that is before you it's gone for another year and you missed out on something good...really good. Okay virtual reality, drones, robots and 3D printing isn't on everyone's diet but in small portions they're all pretty good and getting better. Of course if you're into these products you'd swear they are ready right now. Maybe. ...Read More »

Holiday Simplification Needed By Eileen Wacker The holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year. We make time for family and friends. We feel thankful for what we have. We give and receive gifts in many forms. We eat our favorite foods and make them for special people in our lives. I'm a busy mom of four children. In addition I'm married, work and have a rascally, needy dog, named Buster Brown who barks incessantly if he is ignored. So as much as I love the holidays, I get very worn out by them. If I'm going to go to Christmas concerts wearing a huge smile and remain cheerful in crowded stores with long lines and little angry elf shoppers, I need a little simplification. And let's be honest, the minivans morph into weapons in the packed parking lots. Certain elements of the holidays need to be overhauled. ...Read More »
Content Insider #368 - Fashionable By Miles Weston I can't wait for CES to see what's in fashion for the coming year. You know 4K UHD TVs, wearables, cars, phone cases, movie production/storage, cameras/phones, you know all the things that sparked oohhss, aahhss last year will have a gazillion copies in the acres and acres of show space. Leading edge folks had good sales this year and have moved on to even greater stuff. But that doesn't dampen the enthusiasm of hundreds of creative copiers who will "innovate" their better ideas. It's a game the industry plays with blood, sweat, money. ...Read More »

For an idea of what a gold iPad might look like, Stuart Hughes , a luxury gadget designer, made a solid gold and diamond-encrusted iPad back in 2010. Content Insider #358 - She Said, She Said By Miles Weston I love the way social media marketing people count their likes and their Tweet volume to show that they are building brand image/awareness/loyalty but sales don't always show up on the other end. But when people talk about the company/brand/product things happen...sales are made. We like to call it buzz but it's realy WOM (word of mouth) that produces the results. Even then not all WOM carries the same degree of weight. Females are more influential than males. That's probably because women share information and experiences more than guys. When women like something/someone they tell others. When they don't like something/someone they tell others. And they tell you why...in detail! So? Never sell female WOM short...just ask the females in your life. ...Read More »
