Apple Pay Will Work Outside The U.S., But There's A Catch

Although Apple Pay has only launched in the United States, it appears that you can also use it in other countries under the right conditions. Owners of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were able to begin using Apple Pay on their phones at merchants with contactless terminals on Monday. But various sites are reporting that the service works elsewhere, too. TechCrunch Tries Out Apple Pay In The Real World

Apple released iOS 8.1 today, and with it comes the ability to use Apple Pay on the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. TechCrunch decided to try it out by going to two nearby businesses that already accept Apple’s NFC-powered mobile payments: Walgreens and McDonald’s. Getting the 6 Plus ready for Apple Pay took less than a minute. The Passbook app opened, tapped the “Add” button, selected the Credit/Debit Card menu item introduced in iOs 8.1, and was presented with a form to enter the selected card’s number, expiration date, and security code. There was also an option to scan the details of the card in with the camera.
