Gamewagon takes video game parties on the road in a custom built Gamewagon fitted with HD televisions and the latest consoles and video games. The interest in and take up of the experience has been so quick that Gamewagon is investing fast and growing quickly to keep up with demand.
The company has been set up by John Lilley who learnt about the concept from a friend who held such a party in the USA for his daughter. As a parent of two, John is well aware of how difficult it can be to organise social events for children and young people, with pressure to find something different and entertaining each year.
John Lilley said: With a career to date focused around helping entrepreneurs to start new businesses it was time to do it for myself. A Gamewagon event is an ethical, fun, quality experience that is always in demand. People have already expressed an interest in owning their own Gamewagon; this is something being considered in the future, but first we are proving and honing the concept and supporting business model.
The feedback from parents so far has been very supportive. The Gamewagon looks great inside and out; each one has five HD TVs and is all kitted out with the latest consoles and games. During the event, the parents can sit back and relax as our Game Experience Managers run the party and ensure that everyone is having fun.
Gamewagon's launch and subsequent growth has been impressive despite fears of economic decline. Their first party was held in the middle of September 2012 and by the end of January 2013 they will have completed their 80th kids birthday party. Apparently, many of the bookings come from people who have previously attended another friends event. In December, Gamewagon was featured on the Christmas Special of the Gadget Show where presenters Polly and Jason described it is an A-Team Van filled with the latest technology and games.
Mr Lilley said: Despite the challenging economy, people are still looking to spend on memorable experiences for their loved ones and this hits the mark. Creating the trendiest birthday party for the new generation came at a price but so far it has been worth it!
Gamewagon is already building their fourth Gamewagon which will add to their fleet to cope with growing demand. They are also looking to create further jobs around London (approximately 30 part and full time roles in the next 12 months) to become Game Experience Managers helping with running events, managing parties and supporting video game launches across the South East.
Gamewagon, based in Surrey, has coverage across Greater London and the Home Counties with Gamewagons based in West Byfleet, Tunbridge Wells and Uxbridge.
