A new public relations service specifically designed for small businesses, Small Biz PR Plan uses expert coaching to help small businesses create and then implement a public relations plan customized to their individual needs. Created by successful boutique PR firm WordenGroup Public Relations to meet a need they were seeing for small business public relations campaigns, Small Biz PR Plan helps the businesses get a handle on useful PR tools and practices to increase their visibility. The service takes a hands-on approach, teaching business owners how to combine media outreach with a strong company website and social media presence for optimal results.
"Small businesses have many of the same needs in terms of improving visibility and attracting customers that big businesses have," says WordenGroup principal Darla Worden. "Our firm frequently receives calls from small businesses looking for help with their public relations efforts, but they often dont have a budget to fully engage the services of a PR firm. We were frustrated by not being able to help them, and the idea for Small Biz PR Plan came out of that frustration.
"Often what small businesses do have," Worden explains, "is a commitment to their own success and a willingness to learn and do the work themselves. So we developed an idea where we could create an initial tailored public relations plan for small business clients and then coach them in a sort of do-it-yourself approach to reaching their PR goals by teaching them how to implement basic public relations practices and tools."
According to the Coleman Report, 13 percent of U.S. adults are either starting a small business or are new small business owners. Small Biz PR Plan was designed with these small businesses in mind.
Businesses who enroll in Small Biz PR Plan will receive a one-hour interview by a public relations professional. A plan and timeline will be created, based on the interview, thats tailored to meet the businesss specific public relations goals. After receiving their PR plan, businesses will receive a one-hour counseling session each month for 12 months, teaching them basic PR skills toward implementing their plan, including drafting a news release, creating a business Facebook page, using wire services, and quantifying results. The cost of the Small Biz PR Plan program is $999 for the initial interview and plan plus $195 per month.
The marketing campaign and smallbizprplan.com website are centered around Henris Sunflowers LLC an example based on a fictitious small business owned by a cairn terrier who needs help spreading the word about his sunflower business. After he enrolls with Small Biz PR Plan, Henris business receives plenty of buzz. Denvers Abbie Kozik Design created the website to help communicate in a fun way the basic public relations concepts that go into a successful plan.

"It will be fun for our team of expert PR consultants to work with small business owners to really understand their business needs and then help them find success, from crafting the initial plan to helping them quantify their PR results," says Worden.
