Boopsie Partners With Comics Plus: Library Edition to Provide Enhanced Access to Digital Comics and Graphic Novels to Libraries

Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) June 25, 2014

Boopsie, Inc. and Comics Plus: Library Edition announced a partnership in which Boopsie will sell Comics Plus: Library Edition subscriptions to libraries worldwide. Boopsies team will be selling subscriptions to this digital catalog of over 10,000 digital comics to libraries, which can be accessed both via Boopsies library-branded mobile apps and on the librarys traditional website.

Comics Plus: Library Edition is an online streaming service that provides libraries with access to thousands of digital graphic novels, comic books and manga at a per-checkout price with simultaneous circulation to virtually any mobile device, tablet or PC. They currently have a number of active libraries, including Kitchener Public Library, York County Libraries, and Houston Public Library.

So far this year thousands of graphic novels, manga and comic books have been checked out via Comics Plus: Library Edition, says Josh Elder, Account Director at Comics Plus: Library Edition and founder of Reading With Pictures. Boopsie is the perfect partner to help expand this even further, and we couldnt be more excited to be partnering with them.

Library-branded mobile apps from Boopsie work on all major mobile operating systems and are used by over 2,500 libraries worldwide. Boopsie will be selling subscriptions to Comics Plus: Library Edition to all libraries, regardless of whether they have a Boopsie app since the subscription can be delivered on desktop browsers as well.

Libraries purchase of 2,500 credits which are metered out to library users uniformly over a 12 month period. 1 credit allows patrons to check out a comic, and 2 credits enables access to a graphic novel. These digital items are available on an easy to access digital bookshelf and automatically returned after 7 days. Most libraries buy multiple blocks of credits and add additional blocks of credits as demand for digital comics and graphic novels grows within their library.

Libraries are excited about being able to meet the needs of the Kids, Teens and Young Adult markets in innovative, easy-to-use ways with content that generates excitement about the library, states Bryan Murray, Director of Accounts at Boopsie. Our team will be helping libraries market this new service directly to library patrons in order to further help libraries reach new users and get the word out to their communities about digital comics. Libraries interested in purchasing this subscription can contact the Account Team at Boopsie - sales(at)boopsie(dot)com - for more information.

Comics and graphic novels are the fastest growing segment of library collections. They circulate even more than the hottest new book releases, and delivering them digitally on mobile devices further increases the ease of use for library patrons and students, says CEO, Tony Medrano. Our new Comics subscription service allows for unlimited, simultaneous checkouts, and for libraries to make the entire catalog of 10,000+ titles available to their patrons and students. This is relatively unheard-of among eContent providers.

Libraries can watch a recorded webinar about Digital Comics for Libraries that was delivered to libraries earlier this month.

Boopsie will be attending the American Libraries Association Annual Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas. Libraries interested in learning more about providing their patrons and students with access to digital comics and graphic novels can visit Boopsie at booth #2032 for a demo.
