http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12464/7041148?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Thu, 10 Aug 2017 20:22:18 +0000 Box Office Buzz - 8/11/17 Box Office Buzz - 8/11/17 http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12464/7041148?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KOLR >> chris: hello movie maniacs. new on the big screen this weekend is the scary "annabelle: creation." several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a doll maker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the doll maker's possessed creation! known as annabelle. originally scheduled to be released on may 19th of this year, but was moved to now to avoid competition with "alien covenent." which really didn't do anything. also out, the animated "nut job two: nutty by nature." followed the events of the first "nut job," surly and his friend must top oakland city's mayor from destroying their home to make way for a dysfunctional amusement park. i think that sounds fun. there's tons of vocal stars, will arnett, kathryn heigl, and maya rudolph, to name a few. and "the glass castle" slated for springfield. a young girl comes of age in a dysfunctional family of non-confor mist nomads with a mother who is artist and alcoholic father who would stir the children's imagination with hope as a distraction from their poverty. based on a true story about a family on the run from the government, hiding in small towns, living in poverty. jennifer lawrence was attached to star and produce this movie for a long time. but dropped out. brie larson, she won the oscar. she was cast in the role after jennifer lawrence dropped out. top at the box, "the dark tower" leads the lowest box office of the entire summer. i was afraid that that marker would come this weekend. following is "dunkirk," "the emoji movie," and "girls trip." it is a really crazy thing to me that the number seven and number eight movies are some of the best at the box right now. charlize theron is excellent in "atomic blond"! and i just saw the extremely powerful "detroit." this is an important kim that is very well done by director kathryn bigelow, who is one of my very favorite story tellers. kathryn bigelow brings you right in the middle of the action, with fantastic camera moves. she draws strong performances from her talents, whether a veteran actor or complete new comer. i love movies based on true stories that highlight american history. it's strong and powerful and i highly recommend "detroit," but not for the kiddos. the number seven and number eight, not for the kiddos. plus, both of these have earned the critics' choice seal of approval. we liked 'em! new on blu-ray this week, "snatched." when her boyfriend dumped her for their exotic vacation, a young woman persuaded her ultra cautious mother to travel with her to paradise. the extremely talented amy schumer and goldie hawn star. this movie was a strong okay. i laughed a lot. i didn't fall out of chair or anything. i love them together. keep tabs on www.moxiecinema.com for info on the latest indies coming to downtown springfield. and the movies at founders park are winding down as school looms. friday you can see "cloudy with a chance of meatballs." and saturday night, see one of my favorites, will ferrell as ron burgundy in "anchorman." www.parkboard.org/movies for tons more information on these free films. and let me know what you are excited about. i'll see you on facebook soon. find me via #boxofficebuzz. i have a pair of tickets for you to see a movie of your choice for free at the b & b theatres ozark/nixa 12. see us an e-mail. in the subject line put ozarks "box office buzz." sent
